My blogging experience

I never had a blog before. Some years ago I read some of friends or people who did not know and I found it interesting what they wrote, but I never encouraged having a personal blog. But over the years, I stopped reading because these people shut down their blogs, I was not interested in the topics they written, or visually I've never liked the blog format (the last one is purely aesthetic).

In these months that I've had blog, gave me entertained topics each week, but overall I do not like too "expose" my life online. Although I have facebook, I always try to put the least possible information, I use it just to play or spying people. This doesn’t mean that people should not show their life and the ideas they think on internet or some other form of publication, but I feel that having a blog is not with me, and I surely would not keep the blog updated, I am very lazy sometimes.

But as learning methodology is very useful to english classes. I was able to experience it for myself, I have learned many new words, write and think in english, and also write and organize my ideas in a text. For example, for the first sessions I use lot of translators, but for the past their use was declining. Each week being encouraged to write in english keep the learning "fresh", probably when he returns from holiday I have forgotten some things I've learned, but surely I will remember the most important. Read the writings of my classmates has allowed me to not only improve my english to try to understand what they have written, but also to know more about them and about other careers in the faculty that I didn’t know either of them.

Goodbye!!

My ideal job

If I ask myself which it´s my ideal job, immediately I think in ice cream tester. Regrettably this job it´s unrelated with the anthropology, so I will speak about some job related with my career.

Firstly, I cannot imagine myself as archeologist, because, besides I do not like their approach, I hate work in the earth or under the sun all day, and finish the day dirty. Or I will not try going of Santiago and losing me in southern villages, in investigating any tribe to be extinguished.

Actually, imagine my day getting up early in the morning, leave kids in the school and come to my office, where there will be a desk with a big cup of hot coffee waiting for me. This place will be very quiet and I will be able to concentrate on the work of the day.

I hope to work in some company or institution to let me develop the urban anthropology, like an environmental consultant or urban ministry, where should investigate what people want for their city. For example, to do research about incidence of malls in the life of the people in particular community.

My work it will contribute greatly to the construction plans of the city, because Santiago become an "intelligent city" where the buildings, parks and all public places be in the services of citizens and not of the cars invading the streets, or companies with their advertising posters.

I hope the anthropology contribute to the approach of architects, transportation engineers and planners because I think that they sometimes forget to working for people, and not everything is aesthetic and supposed modernity.

Summer

This photograph was taken by my older cousin about two years ago. There are my four cousins and myself, we had gone to buy ice cream at the corner store and we returned to the house of my grandmother.
My younger cousin is that it´s taking me his hand, he live in Concepción and comes to visit every summer. Those days are very entertaining as all of us, incluiding my other cousins and uncles, we become a little kids again and invent games and rides to entertain him.
I love this picture because it reminds me of my summers when I was a little girl. I stayed in grandmother´s house, slept until noon, had lunch a delicious diches and in the afternoon swimming in the pool with my cousins, until we call to tea: milk of banana and bread with avocado, while watching television programs like "El Club de los Tigritos".
At this time we would also buy ice cream at the corner store, and I still do!

Stereotypes in the Faculty

When I arrived to the faculty I realized that in this place there are people of very different types, not like in the school where we were all similar.

In this time I have been able to distinguish some stereotypes that wander for the place, as the hippies, geeks, politicians, urbans, rurals and many other types that are scarcer.

Many people think that all the anthropologists we are hippies, but is not so thus. It is true that many people in this career that are "hippies with money" but other normal people exist that themselves would be able catalogue in no stereotype particularly.

The geeks are the people that have the last technology and they walk from a place to another with her, themselves they cannot separate of their netbooks.

The politicians are the people that participate in assemblies and marches, they send mails with resolutions that agreed in said assemblies and they encourage to the remainder to participate in them.

The urbans are them called "santiaguinos" and the rurals are the people that are of other regions of the country. These last they occupy strange words, at time they eat different things and always they leave to their houses long weekends.

Finally, I consider myself a strange mixture among urban and hippy, but without money :P
