Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 it´s a game console, actually belonging to my cousins, but as live very close to them therefore play when I want. They have about 2 years ago, gave it for Christmas, and in that time have had many and varied games, as The Simpsons, Guitar Hero, Gears of War, etc. But my favorite game was GTA (Grand Theft Auto), where a man wanders the city doing things that might not ever do, like stealing cars, killing people, etc. Is a very violent but entertaining game.

In holidays I play with the Xbox every day and many hours, but in rest of the year I dont play almost never because I have a lot of study.

For last Christmas we got two very good games: The Beatles Rock Band and Guitar Hero World Tour, these games make you feel in a real band because they include a battery, two guitars and a microphone, is like being in a karaoke. Sometimes play all my family!

I understand that without The Xbox would not end life, but since there prefer to spend the rest of my days with this (or until a new console and more entertaining :P)

Pulp Fiction

When I ask myself wich is my favorite movie many options come to my mind because I love movies and I always try to see premieres or all that my friends recommend me.

The requirements that a film should have to become one of my favorites are: good story, good music, good photography and good performances. So, my favorites are "Amelie", "La lengua de las mariposas", "Las trillizas de Belleville", "Amores Perros" and all directed by Quentin Tarantino.

The first movie from Tarantino that I saw was Pulp Fiction when I was about 15 years old, and I love it! What I liked most was the sordid ambience that moved the characters, the irony present in the dialogues and the way that violence displayed in the scenes.

I also love the characters of Jhon Travolta and Uma Thurman, called Vincent Vega and Mia Wallace, respectively. The first was the bodyguard of a powerful man and the second was the wife of this. My favorite scene above all in the film is when Vincent dances with Mia in a very kitsch restaurant.

So if you have not seen this movie, I totally recommend it!

My holidays in the Lanalhue Lake

I am not a person who has traveled so much, the only times that have left the country is to Mendoza, Bariloche y Buenos Aires, in Argentina. In all this travels to enjoy a good time, but finally when I think of th best trips I have taken do not go according to kilometers of distance or place are exotic, for my up to now the better trips have been to the south nof Chile.

For example, when I was 10 years old I went to Lanalhue Lake with my family. This lake is located in Arauco province, close to the town of Cañete 640 kilometers to the south of Santiago. In days we spent an enjoyable morning with my five cousins we were going to the pool until we were called to lunch, we took a boat and then sailed across the lake, or sometimes we were on horseback, and in the afternoon we went to a nerby cafe to afternoon sncack.

Our cabins were on the side of a hill with many trees, where we made our secret club with branches and leaves of "Nalca", the same is done with nthe traditional "curanto" in Chiloé and the south are from many sides.

I hope to return to that place where most old woman and take my grandchildren to enjoy as I did.

Gabriel Salazar

He was born in the city of Santiago in January 31st, 1936. He is a nationally prominent historian and although not precisely an anthropologist I believe that his research and books are a lot of help to our discipline.

Gabriel Salazar studied in the "Liceo de Aplicación" and went to the University of Chile for further studies of History, Philosophy and Sociology. In 1976 he was exiled from the country and was received in England, this country gave him a scolarship and he became Doctor in Economics and Social History in the Hull University. In 2006 won the National Prize for History in Chile.


Nowadays Salazar works as professor of 19th century Chilean History, Contemorary and Theory of History in the department of History Science in the University of Chile, and teaches the course of Social History in Chile in the law school, as well as in the Faculty of Social Science at the same university.


Salazar is a major contribution to chilean historiography, and he established the trend of New Social History that examines the popular subjects and the most significant facts in the lower classes, focusing on the displaced and the exploited masses of our society.

My Hobbies

Thinking back, I have always had hobbies in my life, they change according to my age and interests, some are maintained in time and others pass and become pretty memories. For example when I was young I liked to do necklaces and bracelets of beads, to ride on skates or to write scripts for plays of puppets that we carried out with my cousins and we presented to my familyin Christmas or special dates. Other acivities like reading, listening to music and watching movies I continue to do, inspite that in certain times of year I don´t have much time for them.

When I was 15 years old due to my interest in music I began studying violin and for 5 tears I learned many things of this discipline, I was in a youth orchestra during a year and we carried out diverse presentations. Upon entering to the university I had less time to dedicate in to the music and I had to leave it, but I know that this pause is momentary since further on I will take up again the studies in this instrument or in another. Nowadays I am learning Flamenco dance and I am very happy with my personal achievements as with the ones of the group.

The Earthquake

I sleeping in my house when the earthquake happen. Always when tremor happen my reaction is to keep calm and stay in the same place, but in this opportunity the tremor to make more and more strong, therefore I say my mom to get up of the bed (she stay in other room, for that reason I shout). When come to the hall we move a lot and I couldn´t to walk. Soon open the door and the wall in the garden fall, in this moment I understand it was an earthquake.

Later when the move stop I went a house of my aunt (she live in a house in front) and I ask if everything is fine. All my families there were good, but in this moment I think in my dad, he live in the old building in center of Santiago. Whit my mom to get in the car and go to the building and fortunately he is fine, a little bored by being alone, but fine.

In the weeks that continued whit my friends and cousins we help in the FECh, we go to supermarket and collecting food and hygiene articles to send to the affected zones.

My name is Catalina Aguilera, I am 20 years old and I am in my second year of the Anthropology career.

I have called my blog "mi bici morada" because every day I go to university in a purple bicycle that I love and I travel to the rhythm that I want, for example there are days in which I want to go faster or others in which I want to ride at a slow pace. I listen to my favourite music or when it´s very early I listen to the news in the radio. I always try to go by the "ciclovias" that are on the road because the cars and buses always run, they are stressed and make very dangerous to go by the street. Going on bicycle allows me to save money and to move my body because I dont practice sports. I have the lucky to live very near the university and coming by bicycle, because I know a lot people that would like to come on bicycle but because of the distance they have to travel through they are not able, but given the possibility I would recommend to all the people to take their bicycle and use it every day!
